Nosework Classes
Beginner Nosework Classes
Classes are offered in the Evening Hours only - usually 6:30 to 7:30
These are 6 week Classes that Introduce Your Dog to UKC Nosework Scents.
Your Dog will graduate with the ability to locate the scents and show a change in behavior to indicate to the Handler that scent has been found.
This is taught using United Kennel Club Nosework Rules for Competition
We also offer additional classes to members only or to people who have already taken our Beginner Nosework Class.
Advanced Nosework Class
This class will build from what was learned in the Beginners class.
Classes will be focused on skills like working on a stronger indicator, working out high hides, inaccessible hides, and adding distractions. Learning how to find a second scent in the search area and working out personal Nosework issues are also worked on in this class.
This class is always offered to UPDD members first and then offered to non-members if there are open slots.
This Class will also follow UKC Nosework Rules for competition.
Nosework Vehicle Class
This Class focuses solely on searching and finding scents located on passenger vehicles or other vehicles that meet the qualifications of UKC Nosework specifications, such as motorcycles, 4 wheelers, trailers, side by sides ect. The classes will follow all UKC rules for this element. You will start off with simple vehicles searches and drills to create an understanding and drive in your dog and work up to the highest level of UKC Nosework Vehicles searches.
Hander Discrimination
In this class your dog will learn to find the Handlers scent by locating your scented glove that is hidden in a cardboard box.
There are several levels of Handler Discrimination with increasing difficulty.
This class is taught using United Kennel Club Official Rules for Competition.
This class is offered to UPDD Members first and then open slots will be filled with interested non-members.
Start Dates, Times and Locations are posted on our Facebook Group.
