JEAN LYLE
Jean has been loving and training dogs for over 45 years. She was the head obedience instructor for over 25 years and also taught classes in Advanced Obedience, Rally, Clicker Training, Agility, Tracking and Nosework. All of her training is done using no force and is reward based. Jean believes that dogs respond much better to rewards than they do to punishment. She has attended numerous training seminars so she would always stay knowledgeable in the newest positive training methods. Jean has titled multiple dogs in Conformation, Obedience, Lure Coursing, Rally, Dock Diving, Agility, Tracking and Nosework. Her favorite dog sport is Nosework and she has been a Nosework instructor for over 10 years. Jean lives with her husband and her two German Shepherd dogs, 11 year old Rayne and 8 year old rescued puppy mill mother, Maggie. Jean is a founding member of the UPDD Club.
COLLEEN OWENS
Colleen started as assistant instructor in Nosework Classes about 7 years ago, but has been involved in the sport since 2014. She started competing in the sport in 2017. She has earned Titles in Nosework with three different dogs, earning titles in all levels including Champion and Grand Champion Levels. Colleen supports a positive reward program for training and believes that Nosework is a sport that builds confidence, teamwork and a strong bond between handler and dog. She has 2 dogs that are in the UKC Nosework Hall of Fame. Colleen has been to a Nosework Seminar, but has learned most of what she teaches through her own personal experiences and training. Colleen also has previously trained dogs in agility, obedience, lure coursing, rally, trick dog and CGC. Colleen is currently training and competing in Nosework with 2 year old Labrador Retriever, Jaxson. She also lives at home with her Husband, an 8 year old Golden Retriever, Remy and a 4 month old mixed breed puppy named Raven. She has recently became a UKC Provisional Nosework Judge and has completed her first assignment. Colleen is a founding member of the UPDD Club.
BARB TARDIFF
Barb has been a lead instructor or assistant instructor in Nosework since 2016, but has been involved with Nosework since 2012. She has owned 6 German Shepherd dogs over the last 24 years, of which 5 have been RESCUED! She has previously competed in Nosework with her German Shepherd, Skye. She has earned Nosework Titles with Skye including her Elite Overall Title and Master Champion Title. Her and Skye have also completed their Handler Discrimination Excellent Title, and are listed in the 2022 UKC Nosework Hall of Fame. She has titles in Agility (including her UKC Champion Title). Barb has past experience in Obedience, Dock Diving, Trick Dog, CGC, and Lure Coursing. Barb has attended Nosework Seminars in the past to add to her Nosework experience and knowledge. Currently Barb is training and competing with her German Shepherd, Kia, who recently earned her Novice Nosework Title (Sept 2023). Barb lives at home with her Husband and German Shepherd Kia. Barb is a founding member of the UPDD Club.
